Palmer has undergraduate and Master's degrees in education from Pittsburg State University. Prior to being elected, she served as a teacher in Kansas for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2005.
She has also served as the National President of Pittsburg State University Alumni Association and has been married to her husband Ron for 45 years. They have two sons and two grandchildren.[1]
Policy Positions
Palmer's main issue has been public education. In addition she has worked to rebuild Southeast Kansas Communities damaged by flooding in 2007.[1]
Palmer refused to take Project Vote Smart's Political Courage Test. The test, which is administered to all candidates for presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative offices, asks one central question - "Are you willing to tell citizens your positions on the issues you will most likely face on their behalf?"[2]

2010
Palmer lost her bid for re-election to the 4th District seat against Caryn Tyson (R). Palmer had no opposition in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[4]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Palmer was re-elected to the 4th District Seat in the Kansas House of Representatives, defeating Lynne D. Oharah (R). [5] Palmer raised $48,597 for her campaign, while Oharah raised $17,311. [6]
