Born February 21, 1939 in Wheatland, Wyoming, Dennis Utter is a retired bank executive from Adams County, Nebraska. He is a graduate of University of Wyoming (B.S. in agriculture), 1961 and (M.S. in agricultural economics) 1964. Prior to his election to the Nebraska Legislature, Sen. Utter was mayor of McCook, NE.[1]
Utter graduated from the Colorado School of Banking, earned his Bachelors degree in Agriculture from the University of Wyoming, and earned his MS in Agricultural Economics from the University of Wyoming.
Utter began his professional experience in 1961 as a farm manager for the First National Bank and Trust Company. His work as a farm manager ended in 1963 when he began working as executive vice president and director for McCook National Bank. His service there ended in 1978 when he began working in a similar position for Adams County bank, which is his current occupation.
Utter joined the Nebraska State Legislature as a senator in 2009.
Utter is currently involved with a number of organizations, including the Adams County Senior Servies, Kenesaw Community Club, Kenesaw Public Schools Foundation, Mary Lanning Health Care Foundation, Nebraska Bankers Association, Nebraska Bankers Association/American Bankers Association, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center Board of Councilors.

Utter is running in the 2012 election for District 33 of the Nebraska Unicameral. The primary election will take place on May 15, 2012 and the general election takes place on November 6, 2012.[2]

On November 4, 2008, Utter won election to the 33rd District Seat in the Nebraska Senate, defeating Chuck Shoemaker.[3]
