California Proposition 19, Property Taxes Assessable on Land Only (1918)

Proposition 19 appeared on the ballot in California in 1918 as an initiated constitutional amendment. Its goal was to mandate that taxes could only be levied on land--not on any improvements (such as buildings) on that land.
