It was exciting for Ballotpedia contributors earlier this week when the Los Angeles Times drew attention to Ballotpedia's list of 2009 recall campaigns. The theme of P.J. Huffstutter's article is that 2009 is a banner year for recall campaigns. Huffstutter notes that on Ballotpedia, there are articles about close to sixty local recall elections, many more than in the preceding year. Given the nature of a wiki, there might have been just as many in 2008--but I suspect that Huffstutter is right, and that the number of articles on BP is reflective of an underlying trend.

Huffstutter's article was reprinted in several other national publications, including the Chicago Tribune.

It also has inspired more work on BP's list of 2009 recalls, which now includes articles about more than 70 local recall campaigns.
